Extended provision
Breakfast Club
Our breakfast club provides an essential service to many of our families. It offers a balanced meal, a safe and stimulating environment and social and emotional support to our children.
Breakfast clubs have repeatedly reported the following benefits:
• increased concentration
• improved confidence
• an increased understanding of the importance of healthy eating
• an opportunity to prepare for learning and engage in positive social interactions
Breakfast club is very popular and very well attended. We can have a maximum of 24 children in breakfast club and places will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.
Booking In Advance
We would prefer children to be booked into breakfast club with at least ‘48 hours’ notice so that we can have the correct number of staff in place each day and budget for food and activities. This will secure a place for your child on your chosen days. Booking forms can be found at the school office and payment must be made on Parentmail before the session required.
Adhoc Bookings
Adhoc bookings can still be made as we understand that short term care is sometimes required. We would ask that you book your place with the office so that we can ensure that we have a space.
Times
Breakfast club will start at 07.45am and end at 08.45am when children begin their school day. Breakfast will only be served until 08.15am.
Cost
Breakfast club will cost £3.00 per session. This is fully inclusive of breakfast and unlimited drink.
All costs are payable at time of booking, on ParentMail, as we are a cashless school.
Please speak to the office staff if you think you are entitled.
Menu
A six weekly breakfast club menu is in place. Wholemeal bread/toast, water, milk, fruit juice and fresh fruit will be available daily as well as the daily menu choice.
Activity Timetable
A two weekly activity timetable has been produced so that children know what activity they will be taking part in on what day.
Treehouse after school club
The Federation runs the Treehouse After School club at Birchwood Junior School.
This runs from the end of school to 5.20pm. Children from Woodlands Infant and Nursery school and The Lancaster school are walked to Treehouse After School Club by a familiar known adult. Children are given time to relax after the school day and enjoy a healthy snack which is provided. They then participate in a variety of activities from arts and crafts to sporty fun and play outside.
The after-school club should be booked in advance through the school office on 01522 800971 or enquiries@birchwood.lincs.sch.uk. They charge £3.00 for an hour or £5.00 for the full two hours.
